Thought I'd better speak up a bit from the back of the room as a new (but ancient) addition to the Forum. You see, I'm rather older than the average person enjoying the outdoors, but I've hugely enjoyed my own microadventures in the past all over the place (without really knowing they were microadventures). Hope you don't mind the crazy silver surfers butting in to a new site like this - we might not be able to reach the highest peaks any more with ice axes and crampons, but the capacity to be alone and free in the wilderness is still a great attraction. Amazing how cares of life vanish when you're on the tops with minimal gear and a good malt.
Looking at other Wild Outdoors and Bushcraft sites, I've reasoned that visiting the Micro Adventure site is the way to start talking about things, as I get the impression (rightly or wrongly) that the other sites are really geared up to 'young 'uns' learning the ropes and flexing their intellect. Here, I reckon there's more chance for oldies like me to be airing views and swapping tales, etc. - as long as you don't mind the historical perspective. You never know, pearls of wisdom might still be around and I'm not ga-ga yet....
Me? I'm ex-Navy (hence navigator), ex-Lecturer (Environmental Sciences and Outdoor Pursuits) and ex-RSPB warden (Scotland) - a Yorkshireman now happily planted in Norfolk with a battered VW campervan, free to go anywhere, anytime (outside of school hols., of course).
Cheers, Johnners
