Here's the trip plan: Overview: I want to bike 30 miles to a Reservoir outside of town to arrive there at sunrise and then Stand Up Paddleboard across it. I have an inflatable SUP, which I can strap to backpack frame so I can get it out there. And then, bike on back in time for work.
Itinerary: The bike ride is fairly straight going north from Boulder, Colorado, along a lot of backroads that roam through fields. It's 31.2 miles, and google maps estimates that the ride should take 3 hours if leaving from my house just a few blocks north of the Ideal Market in North Boulder. Sunrise will occur at about 6:45 am (Mid September) Therefore, we would want to leave a bit before 3:45 AM so we can get there and chill out for a bit. We will leave my house at 3:15 to be safe since we'll have the extra weight of the pack.
And then, when we get there, we'll SUP across this gorgeous lake, with the front range of the Rocky Mountains before us, and the sunrising upon them.
