I would be interested to know what cameras and lenses people take with them on microadventures (or huge great big adventures). As a Nikon user I have a 24-120 f4 that works great for all round photography and a 35mm f1.8 prime lens for low light and creative pictures..

I'm using a Canon 500D, with a 18-55mm kit lens for landscape stuff. I have a 70-300mm zoom that I rarely use. Plus I rigged up a macro lens from the focussing lens from a Sony hand-held, which I use with my Samsung smart phone.

I'd love a 10-22mm. One day!

Sounds like a varied amount of lenses everyone likes.. The most important part of my photography kit is the rain sleeve, so pictures can be taken in anything the good old British weather throws at me!

Yeah, I got myself one of the Kata rain covers, though with my crappy lens, it doesn't help with condensation at all! Probably going to get one of the Sigma 18-250 jobbies soon.

I've not used that Sigma lens but I have a 120-400 and it's a great lens. I use the opTech rain sleeves, they're really cheap (£2.50 each) but work really well..

Reviews seem pretty good for an all-rounder, definitely better than both of my current lenses! Thus I can replace both my previous lenses and take advantage of the tele-zoom end without having to swap lenses. Seems like a win-win for me.

Good plan.. one lens to do it all can make things easier. I bought the Nikon 35mm 1.8 as it's a small lens and can be tucked into a pocket so that if my main lens has any issues I can still takes pictures.

I use a Canon 5dmk3 and normally take the 24-105 (f4) and the 16-35 (f2.8) I also sometimes lug a heavy tripod along.. I've adapted a drybag as a rain cover and carry it all in the Alpkit Gourdon dry backpack..
