What new outdoor activities have you tried recently?
I tried kayaking a couple of weeks ago. I spent an hour in the boat, capsised 3 times and spent 20 mins in the water - thankfully I had found my dad's old wetsuit so it wasn't too cold.

sea kayaking is something I've done a little of recently. I'd like to try it more, but there's quite a hassle of kit and logistics involved which puts me off a bit.

Surfing. It always looked like fun and we decided about a month ago as a family to take surfing lessons. Loved it - not very good yet, but it is a blast. We are looking at taking 2-3 weeks this winter and going somewhere warm to continue.

Thanks for sharing - must have been good fun getting the whole family involved.
I've been thinking about trying surfing at some point though I'm more interested in windsurfing!

For me Kayaking. Since I have rivers, sea lochs and fresh water lochs on my doorstep it'd be rude not to. Enjoyed a 7 mile paddle yesterday with only seals and gannets for company. Only been out 6 times but its great fun. Can get a load of camping gear in it to, so a wee micro adventure soon.

Bivvying last week for the first time. Never fancied it before, but I had my arm twisted, it was the most fun I've had for a long time. We rode onto the south downs on the MTB's, then spent the night on Chanctonbury ring.

The latest thing I have tried is walking on spring loaded stilts. Walking on them is not that difficult, jumping and running on the other hand is another story. Before the stilts the last thing I tried was stand up paddle boarding. Great fun!

I tried an Off-road Segway experience a few weeks ago and that was great fun.. A true test of my ability to trust a machine not to land me flat on my face!
