Heres are shots of the 2 bikes I us for getting out during the week for an overnight. The one on the left is My Norco Katmadu which I use when the planned destination takes me a little farther into the wild's. Most of the gear is in the 2 front panniers. My therm-a-rest sleep pad is strapped to the handle bars and my cloths are in the dry bag under the seat. Strapped to the top tube is the Therm-a-rest Trekker seat sleeve. The front pannier rack is an inexpensive simple one that I modified to fit the suspension forks by replacing the stock U clamps with larger ones from the hardware store. This is the same rack as the one on my Diamond Back. Rides great and putting more weight up front balance's things out really well. The bike on the right is my trusty old Diamond Back Axis XT. I've had this bike for around 30 years. I use it for overnights that find me riding mostly pavement, dirt roads & easy trails. Its also my commuter bike so it sees a lot mileage. Its setup with front & rear racks with panniers. All the gear gets evenly distributed between the four. It also has full front & rear fenders w/road tires for a smoother ride.

Thanks for sharing. I've just got into biking - no more sore feet on the land rover tracks!
I usually take 30L rucksack with all my gear in it rather than a pannier (I always fall over with it on).
My mates built his own frame bag out of sil nylon - I'll post a picture of it in a couple of days (don't have access to my photos just now).

One of the best additions I have bought recently is an Ortlieb bar-bag. This is fully waterproof and with the extra padded insert holds my DSLR and lense perfectly. It then means it easy access for pictures, well protected and there's still room for a few Mars bars just in case..

I've been through almost the entire spectrum of bikes but always come back to my trusty old GT Airstream because it is so comfortable to ride and not being bent over the handlebars I can enjoy the scenery better. When off on an adventure I usually saddle it up with a pair of Ortliebs and a hammock & Tarp stowed inside a roll mat. My bimbling buddies have even given my bike a name... The High Plains Grifter!
